Hey NCPAP members,

Been staying busy painting outdoors and in studio when weather dictates. In 2018, co-authored "The Colors of Core Sound,"a book of paintings of working boats of the Core Sound with Jimmy Craig Womble, II of Morehead City. Two Man Show with Wayne Epperly of Graham at Carteret Contemporary Gallery, June , 2018. Workshop with Antonin Passemard in Burgundy France in July, 2018.  Happy painting, Steve

Painting Working Boats, NC Coast

If you are into painting old working boat as I am (shrimpers, trawlers, crabbers, skiffs), the Core Banks area  is a gold mine.  Beaufort, Marshallberg, Harkers Island, and  Atlantic all have marinas with traditional handmade boats and all the colorful detritus that you see around boat yards.  Beaufort is a good home base  with colonial  homes, walkable streets, good food and reasonable rooms in the historic waterfront area.  Friend and Beaufort plein air painter, Jimmy Craig Womble, has a…
