National Watercolor Society Traveling Show

While up in the Hickory area Monday I headed up to the Caldwell Arts Center Lenoir, NC to see the National Watercolor Society Traveling Exhibit before it closes Wednesday.. Really enjoyed it although surprised not to see any En Plein Air landscapes. I was a facinated by a piece which was a portrait overlaying a quilt pattern and then realizing each quilt square has a meshed mini portrait. I perhaps was drawn to it as I'm currently working up a quilt design from plants and woodscapes for the side of our spring house in the mountains. There were some great slice of life portraits and an interesting painting of the reflections on the side of a truck. I hope you get to see the show somewhere along its journey... . http://www.nationalwatercolorsociety.org/exhibits.html
