The Wendell Appearance Commission will be hosting the 2nd annual Art Walk in downtown Wendell. This free event will feature several local artists as they compete in an open air art competition throughout the downtown area.
Artists will set up in Wendell’s historic downtown district and beyond. Walkers are invited to watch the artists as they create a masterpeice highlighting Downtown Wendell beginning at 8 a.m and ending at 4:00 p.m. There will also be a sidewalk chalk artist working from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. on N. Main Street.
There was also be a bluegrass concert featuring The Grass Cats and picnic at the Wendell Town Square from 2-4pm; arts & crafts vendors on Campen Street hosted by the Wendell Chamber of Commerce; andUniversal Chevrolet Co will be hosting a classic car show taking place in Downtown Wendell. The Wendell Historical Society will also host "Remembering Helen Wootton" from 2p-5p at the Histroic Wendell Post Office.
Everyone is encouraged to check out all of the artists as they bring their creations to life. A map showing the artist's locations will be available soon.
Paintings will be judged between 4:00 and 5::00 p.m.
At 5:00pm, an artists’ reception and public viewing will be held at Wine & Beer 101-Wendell. All ages are invited to the event and there is no dress code.
After winners are announced, the artwork will be offered for sale in an hour-long silent auction beginning at 5:30 p.m. Money raised by each painting will go to Appearance Commisson for public art projects.
