As part of our continuing goal of preparing for the release of the new version of the French Broad Chapter next Spring, we have several exciting events this Fall. On November 7th from 9 AM to 1 PM, please join us for a Paint-Out at Hickory Nut Gorge Brewery in Chimney Rock to capture this beautiful scene and protect it for the future. We welcome everyone interested, all artists young and old, beginner to advanced, of any medium to paint with us. This event is free and open to all. Please share with friends and artists who would enjoy this event.
Preserving a Picturesque America is an organization that seeks and revisits sites depicted in the book, “Picturesque America". These places were painted by adventure artists in the late 1800's and were influential in the early conservation movement in the United States. PAPA invites artists and writers to return to those same vantage points from the early book and create a contemporary rendition of the view.
We are once again partnering with Asheville Urban Landscape painters for this event. We will be meeting at the Hickory Nut Gorge Brewery which is one of the vantage point sites in the original Picturesque America publication. There is parking and restrooms at the Brewery. The brewery opens at noon. Please stay for a snack, lunch or beverage as a thank you to our host.
We have another Paint-Out Event coming up this Fall:
Oct. 24-27th: Hot Springs Paint-Out and Retreat
