Charlotte Garden Club’s – 2014 Art in the Garden Tour
Dear Plein Air Artists,
It is time to start planning for the Mint Garden and Art Tour for April 2014. Carol Pighin will take over my job this year as artist coordinator. There will be five private gardens and three public gardens put together by Janet Nelson and the Charlotte Garden Club. http://www.mintmuseum.org/support/affiliates/garden-club
Please read carefully the prospectus below. We will keep it the same as last year.
Calling for artists: 16 plein air artists to paint during the Charlotte Garden Club’s Annual Mint Museum Art in the Garden Tour, in Charlotte, NC on Saturday, April 26 & Sun. April 27, 2014. The artists will be juried into the event.
What is the Garden Tour? – This is an annual fund raising event for the Charlotte Garden Club. During one weekend in April they sell tickets to tour 5 beautiful home gardens and three public gardens. Also, 16 artists are invited to paint plein air at the featured homes; two artists will be assigned at each garden. Artists will sell their small plein air works on site from their easels at the homes (additional paintings offered for sale do not have to be painted in the gardens on that day). Paintings will also be offered for sale during Sunday evening’s reception at the Mint Museum of Art.
What is the commission for sales? – The artists will take care of all sales and taxes; 20% of the purchase price will be paid to the Charlotte Garden Club after the event.
Who can participate? – Professional artists who are comfortable painting outdoors rain or shine, who are motivated to make sales for themselves.
How will artists be selected? – All plein air artists will be considered, though priority will be given to artists who have a website, blog or Facebook promoting their work and are available to paint both days during the tour (Saturday Apr 26, 9am – 4pm & Sunday Apr 27, 1pm – 4pm), and attend the Mint Museum of Art reception and sales party (Sunday 5pm – 7pm).
What is the cost to participate? – This year there will be no charge to the 16 artists participating in the fundraising event.
How do I apply? – Email Carol Pighin at firstname.lastname@example.org . Include – name, phone, web/blog address (if you have one), and which dates you can attend.
What is the Deadline to apply? Friday, February 21 @ 8pm. The selected artists will be notified by February 23 at 5:00 pm
