I did watch it...that's one of the videos that inspired me to build my own. The cool thing about these boxes is that they're completely "do-able". You don't have to be a master carpenter or have Bob Vila's equipment to build one. Then, you can take satisfaction knowing not only that you saved a bunch of money, but that you crafted something yourself...very gratifying.

These are great posts....This is so helpful to other artists.  I don't know if you watched the video on building a pochade box.. but I know we have had several artists that have been inspired and saved hundreds of dollars.  The internet can be an amazing tool. Thanks again for the photo Jim and Jeremy!

Jeremy, I finished my "Gator Box".  I am sending some pics. I am left handed, and paint only in watercolors.  With that said I will try to post several pictures. I used your friction hinges which with postage were close to $20.00. The tripod was from Buy.com and about $38.00 with no tax or postage. A "t" nut and several screws from Lowes.  One of my best friends has a cabinet shop and I am fortunate to have a key and can use any and all scraps and tools. I will paint on 1/4 and 1/8th sheets of 100% cotton watercolor paper. The 1/8th sheets will fit in the box for transport.  I don't seem to be able to attach but one pix at a time.  send my your email to oldbioprof@ec.rr.com  and I will send you more.

Thanks Jim, I can't wait to see it. I get just as much pleasure making the plein air equipment as I do painting...well, almost!

Jeremy, it was I who just commented on your blog, about your improved Pochade box.  I am working on my plans now.  Will keep you up to date as it progresses. Thanks for your posts.  God Bless.
