The Toe River Valley Plein Air Painters will be painting along the Cane River in Yancey County on Thursday, May 9th.  We'll meet at the Whitt Bottom Sports Complex on the west side of Burnsville.  There are 2 entrances to the Sports Complex - we will be at the easternmost entrance - along the river. I am an artist with a studio and home in the North Carolina Mountains where I teach workshops in oils and watercolors and offer an artist mountain retreat with studio use and lodging (www.birdhouseretreatwnc.com). In 2007 I started the TRAC (Toe River Arts Council) Annual Paint Out with an average of 40 artists participating each year for the following four years. Sensing a need for a group addressing the activities of the artists painting 2D works for the Yancey County and surrounding areas, I started the Blue Ridge Fine Arts Guild (www.bragwnc.com) in July 2008. This has been a very active group with workshops, exhibitions and monthly meetings. I met Scott at the first Paint Out in 2007 where he took a Second Place and I saw his beautiful work and am the proud owner of one of his paintings.
