Despite the heat, the Buds had around a dozen painters at Bill and Linda Gluck's Garden this morning. It was mostly made up of day lilies in all colors but blue. Linda tells me that's the one color they do not come in. So lovely and worth the effort to endure the heat. Thanks to Bill and Linda for allowing us to visit. Next week the Buds will take off. Take a break and paint indoors... with air conditioning!
The Buds will be at a Daylily Garden this Tuesday, 6/23, at 9:30 AM. I do not put private addresses on the web but if you are interested you can email me: firstname.lastname@example.org. Bring water, bug spray and maybe an umbrella along with your supplies. It will get hot! Afterwards we will lunch together at Panera Bread at the Arboretum.
Despite the heat, the Buds had pretty good attendance at Col Frances Beatty Park today. There were 8 of us: Kathy Collins, Carol Pighin, Sherry Yu, Suzanne Wilson, Mary Catherine Hawes along with me and two newbies: Bridgette Pyles and Jack Whitaker. We all found shady spots and enjoyed cool water and occasional breezes while painting. And it also helped that Mario's was very close by for lunch. Who says summer is a bad time to paint outdoors? Loved it.
The Plein Air Buds enjoyed Renfrow Farm, not only as a painting site but it is a great place to buy fresh veggies too. Day started out with a little rain and heavy clouds but it all cleared up by the time we started. The sunflowers will be in bloom in a couple weeks. Yep, we will return! Thanks to Pressly and Ruth who run the place. Thanks to Dottie Leatherwood for arranging it all.
The Plein Air Buds will have an informal paint out at Renfrow Farms in Matthews this Tuesday 6/9/15 at 10 AM (weather permitting). Please RSVP for this one to me at email@example.com so we can make sure there is adequate parking. Carpooling would be nice! After painting, we will lunch at Beantown in Matthews. Go to the web site for address and other info: Renfrow Farms. This is NOT at Renfrow Hardware.
Thank you, Connie Winters, for a wonderful paint out at your home and gardens. Everyone had a great time... all 24 of us! Yep, a big crowd today. You could not take a bad picture at this outing.
The Plein Air Buds will be at a private garden this Tuesday, 5/26 at 10 AM. I do not give private addresses on the web but if you want to join our group's informal paintout, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will add you to our email list.
Plein Air Buds were a little nervous this morning with the cloudy skies BUT... the sun came through. Thanks to Beth Anne Cieri with daughter, Meghan, Jennifer Spaker, Kathy Collins, Meg Nelson, Carol Pighin, and Dottie Leatherwood for hiking and painting at Landsford Canal State Park in SC. We all want to return. Give it a try even without the spider lilies. You will love the shady trees along the river.
