Workshop Dates: September 12-14, 2012; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Fee: $395.00
Location: We'll meet at Waverly Artists Group Gallery/Studio in Cary, NC, before going to selected sites for plein air painting. www.waverlyartistsgroup.com
This plein air oil painting workshop will unlock your ability to see the color of light and to paint the truth of what you see inthe landscape.
Day 1: Lee will introduce the Impressionist theories of color and light through the exercise of painting colored blocks, using a palette of colors that corresponds to the natural spectrum of light. He takes this exercise from his studies with the late master Impressionist Henry Hensche at the Cape School of Art in Provincetown, MA. Simplifying the subject in the light helps to develop your painter's eye and color vision.
Days 2-3: The students will apply what they've learned in painting plein air at selected sites. Lee will also instruct on applying the principles of composition and design in landscape painting.
There will be frequent demonstrations and individual instruction to insure success. The workshop will conclude with a class critique. All levels welcome!
