Beat the heat this month and take your painting to a higher elevation. On Wednesday & Thursday June 13 - 14 Join me up beautiful Roan Mountain to paint, where it is about 20 degrees cooler. Subject matter will include mountaintop views from grassy balds, Rhododendron in full bloom, Flame Azalea, beautiful Red Spruce and Frasier Fir trees, Appalachian Trail and clouds you can almost touch.
Cost - Free
On Day 1 Wednesday June 13th
We will meet around 9 AM at the Cloudland Parking lot on the way up to Roan Gardens. This is not Round Bald but it is the drive that turns in near the Carver's Gap Parking lot. It will go for a mile or so to a pay booth. There is a daily user fee of $3 per car. After the pay booth turn right into the Cloudland parking lot. Then take the tails (short walk) to Cloudland hotel site where you will see painters. The parking lot has nice restrooms and picnic tables.
On day 2 Thursday June 14th
We will meet at the Carver Gap Parking Lot at 8AM and paint our way up Round Bald along the Appalachian Trail.
Lodging
Roan Mountain State Park in TN has a nice campground and cabins about 8 miles down TN – 143. The next closest towns are Bakersville, Spruce Pine, and Banner Elk, NC. Suggest searching the internet for lodging in the towns above. They are listed nearest to farthest order.
