You are invited to join us from 9:30 - 12:30 for a demonstration of plein air painting by Anne Bonnyman.
Anne Bonnyman moved to Asheville seven years ago to pursue painting and life in the mountains. After serving for many years as an Episcopal priest, she now works full time in her North Asheville studio. As a plein air painter she is captivated by the ever-changing landscape, the power of light and color, and the challenge of translating multi-dimensions onto a 2-D surface. “Deciding what to paint is the first challenge when I look at the richness of the landscape. The painting takes off only when I can identify and capture the features in the scene that most intrigue me. A plein air painting takes on a life of its own and the results always surprise me.”
Anne completed an undergraduate degree in Art History and studied painting in private studios in Nashville, Delaware and Boston. She has taken continuing education courses at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the Museum School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, MA. In 2016 and 2017 she participated in plein air workshops led by Lori Putnam and Tom Hughes.
She is a member of the Asheville Gallery of Art and her work can be seen at www.annebonnyman.com.
We will be meeting at Engadine Inn and Cabins, 3630 Smokey Park Highway, Candler. Stay tuned and sign up for our weekly email if you want to stay on top of this an all of our other announcements. Send request to suedolamore at aol dot com.
